Expressen, Sweden.
There is something exciting in seeing yourself quoted, in a foreign language, in an international newspaper and therefore it was a real delight to be quoted by Swedish journalist Vendela Ögren in her piece on women’s football and the impact of the darker side of social media on players who are now becoming public figures.
A translated extract is below:
“‘We help WSL and PL clubs when they are exposed to serious online hate by tracking the people behind it. But also by talking to the players about it’ says sports and media lawyer Matt Himsworth.
He is talking about B5 Consultancy, the firm specializing in strategic advice to safeguard people’s privacy and protect their reputations.
‘There are players who think it’s calm, I have my comment fields open, my DMs are just fun and I get offers for free stuff, life is great. And one day a disgusting man sends a man a picture of his penis or someone writes a nasty comment about women’s football.
They are also a bigger target for the dark sides of the internet’.”
