Talking to our kids about social media
We often do work with parents of younger children, particularly at Premier League football clubs, and one message we regularly give is that they should talk and share thoughts and opinions with their kids about smartphones. We may be on Twitter and Facebook while our kids are on TikTok and Snapchat but we can influence them on good habits of being privacy aware, kind and moderating their online time. We can also learn from them how social media makes them feel, what concerns them but also what they enjoy.
The more we talk the more we develop an understanding and the more we can positively influence them.
It was for that reason that we at B5 Consultancy have produced a number of short videos on social media and younger children presented from the point of view of a Year 8 child. The videos can be viewed on B5’s social media here ….
